A young woman who ‘dreamed’ of becoming a mother tragically died from Covid-19 just moments after she gave birth to twins.
Larissa Blanco tested positive for Covid-19 on June 12 and her husband Diego Rodrigues said she had been showing flu-like symptoms for some days before.
The 24-year-old was taken to hospital two weeks later when her condition worsened, before she was transferred to a private hospital in the city of Botucatu in the southeastern Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
On June 27 Larissa gave birth to Guilherme and Gustavo.
Husband Diego said: “I was in the surgery room and they were taking the first baby out.

“She saw that wonderful little face and I was really emotional, that was her dream.”
Diego says that the second child was born later after a small complication.
He then said goodbye to his wife to accompany the children – thinking everything was okay.
Diego was then told that his wife has suffered a hemorrhage and needed a blood transfusion.
He said: “She had a hemorrhage and wasn’t managing to pull through.
“After that, she suffered a cardiac arrest and needed a blood transfusion. At around 6am they told me that she did not pull through and had died.

“The doctor said that because of Covid her body could not take it.”
The mourning father said: “I am distraught. I can’t get her out of my head but I know God has a plan for our lives.
“God let her leave two little angels for me to look after, to give me strength.
“I cried so much when I first saw them, it was the most beautiful thing.”
