A woman who walks with difficulty was flabbergasted when a “presumptuous” mother “ordered” her to give up her designated seat on a crowded train, wanting her relatives to be seated. But, the woman experienced “wicked amusement” in watching the mother’s actions backfire on her.
Public transport etiquette is a controversial topic, with many riders growing angry and annoyed by the unwelcome actions of other passengers – whether it’s due to noisy phone calls, spreading their bags and possessions across unoccupied seats that prevent others from sitting down, or consuming strong-smelling food.

One woman, who has a slight impairment to her walk and struggles to move around quickly, usually takes one of the priority seats on her train ride home each evening.
The train functions as “completely full for 90% of the route” before it “divides into two separate trains” near the end of the ride, with one portion going onwards to local, suburban zones and the other travelling towards the airport.
Riders who wish to go to the airport must be situated in the right part of the train or they’ll end up being transported to “the suburbs”.

The woman mentioned there is currently a peak in tourists and individuals journeying to the airport because it’s “the festive season” in her German city, and “each day” she sees individuals wanting to reach the airport, but mistakenly entering “the back part of the train going towards the suburbs instead”.

On Reddit, she recounted: “I normally assist those individuals and let them know the ideal spot to transfer to get into the front of the train to the airport. You can easily recognize them by their large suitcase, seeming a little out of place.
“I have a slight drag in [my] right leg so I’m quite slow and generally sit in the accessible seat, making it simpler for me to board and exit the train.”
She recounted that lately, a “demanding family” consisting of a mother, father, two children, and a grandmother got onto the train with their bags, and “began disputing whether the train was headed to the airport or not”, with the mother “being extremely confident” it was, but she was mistaken and they were, actually, in the incorrect section.
As they started looking for a spot to sit, the mother came up to the woman and demanded she clear the way for the family before announcing she “shouldn’t be sitting there”.

The woman continued: “To be honest, I was going to make space for them anyway, but I just smiled at them and stood up without another word, but the Mom was not yet finished. Scolding me about how impolite I am and that I ought to watch out for individuals who genuinely require those spaces lol.”
Not every disability is obvious but the father did take note of the woman’s limp and suggested she’s “likely disabled”, but the mother looked at her with “bitter resentment, [a] really half-hearted apology.”
However, the woman had the last laugh. She shared: “I was remaining quiet towards them, relocating a few seats over and watching with some wicked pleasure as they came to the realization they were in the incorrect section of the train and failed to reach the last stop to switch over.”
In her post’s subject line, she clarified the “presumptuous” mother “was late for her flight” after “insisting on” her accessible seat. Other Reddit users replied with their opinions and thoughts.
One individual simply declared: “Karma.” Another agreed: “Not only that; OP [original poster] permitted Karma to take its course. Just like the train. And their flight.”
A third user joked: “A first-class ticket to poetic justice, provided by the universe’s schedule.”
