One woman has made her aggravation known, as motorists continually park in her privately held parking space, yet some believe she is at fault.
Lauren Murray, who lives in Surrey alongside her partner and their son, Teddy, realised that her numbered parking spot, which came with their property and is situated in a shared area behind their residence, was regularly being used by others.

The new mother has noticed during the preceding months that individuals were opting to park in her location instead of utilising assigned visitor zones or street parking. She turned to her TikTok account, @lauren_and_teddy, to share her dilemma following multiple occurrences involving various vehicles.
Following one specific situation where a black Renault Clio parked in her bay, she chose to place a note on the windscreen.
The note stated: “This parking bay is privately owned. Please refrain from parking here again.”

However, the driver reacted dismissively, throwing the note onto the ground and writing “sorry mate” on its reverse side.

After the video, viewers swamped the comments section, asking Lauren if “her name was on the bay” or criticising her for “wanting it both ways” and dismissing it as “not a major issue”.
She subsequently confronted another motorist who had parked in her bay, only to be told: “Well I only parked there for an hour so I don’t see why there was a problem.”

Several months afterwards, she went back to TikTok to convey her annoyance that individuals were still parking in her spot, and she was unsure of what action to take.
She complained: “I can’t believe I’m saying this but people are still parking in my parking space. No, I don’t park in it all the time, sometimes I’m at work and sometimes I like to park out the front of my house.
“I’m not being funny, at the end of the day that parking space is my property, Me and my partner bought our house and in the deeds to the house is the parking spaces.
“People have commented before saying if you don’t want people parking there, put a number on it. But as you can see all of these parking spaces are numbered including ours.

“Each property is allocated one or two parking spaces depending on the number of bedrooms they have. Our development also has plenty of visitor parking as well as on the road parking.”
She continued: “So tell me when I posted this video a few months ago, people were telling me I was in the wrong.
“People are saying just because I own the house, it doesn’t mean I own the parking space. But honestly, hun, I can get you the deeds to my house if you want. It literally tells you that the parking space is included.
“Anyway, how would you like it if someone came and parked on your driveway just because you don’t have a car in there, in that moment?”. Or if somebody came and slept in your spare bedroom just because you weren’t using it?”.
“I can assure you, you would absolutely hate it, so people need to really stop coming at me for getting annoyed about people parking in my parking space.”

A second commenter mentioned: “I have a space marked with my number I guess I’m lucky, only once since 2006 has someone parked in it.
“I blocked them in and they didn’t do it again, there was another time when I came home and someone was in it sitting in the car I told them to move and they did.
“I come and go at all different times I guess that’s why they don’t do it as they never know when I’m coming home.”
Another user mirrored Lauren’s annoyances, declaring: “Same thing happen[s] to me, it’s infuriating. Every other day my own parking space is taken.”
Numerous individuals suggested that Lauren should install a metal bollard that could be locked to prevent others from occupying her bay when she wasn’t using it.
To this, Lauren responded: “We need to get one but I don’t see why we should have to.”
