A confessed cannibal discloses that his craving for human meat began once he started working at a funeral home, detailing his primary encounter with its consumption.

The convicted murderer Nico Claux, known as ‘the Vampire of Paris,’ cultivated an obsession with death from a young age, following the untimely passing of his grandfather when he was barely 10 years of age.

Claux recounted that he initiated having daydreams regarding the consumption of human meat at the age of 12, after discovering the tale of the infamous cannibal Issei Sagawa, who murdered a Dutch woman in Paris in 1981 prior to consuming portions of her remains.

This fixation propelled him to seek work at a mortuary with the intention of sampling human meat for the first time, initiating a horrifying expedition involving murder, cannibalism, blood drinking and the esoteric.

During a conversation on the Anything Goes with James English podcast, he admitted his attraction to working at a morgue was driven by the availability of corpses, where he initially satisfied his desire for human meat, according to the Mirror.

He stated: “I began entertaining fantasies about biting, ripping apart flesh with my teeth, psychopathic fantasies. It was a fixation.

“My introductory role was as a mortuary assistant. I was employed at a morgue in Paris. In France at that time, there was no structured program to train as a mortuary assistant. You were a hospital attendant and they would ask ‘are you interested in this position’ and you would secure it.

“When my tenure in the morgue first commenced, I perceived how straightforward it was when I had sole responsibility for the autopsies, to extract pieces of flesh from the bodies and ingest them.

“Initially, it was raw, and subsequently, I would slice off tiny pieces, take them home and prepare them in various ways.”

The small amounts he was able to steal at the morgue did not satiate the cannibal’s appetite, nonetheless.

He went on to murder Thierry Bissonnier in Paris, an individual he met via the internet, aiming to consume sections of his anatomy. He was eventually disturbed before he could execute his scheme to its entire completion.

Claux was apprehended after he endeavored to forge one of his victims’ bank drafts to acquire a VCR and was subsequently given a sentence of 12 years imprisonment. He was ultimately discharged after serving seven years and four months of his sentence.

The cannibalistic killer reveals that everyone invariably quizzes him about the flavor profile of human meat, but while he draws a comparison to the meat of a specific animal, he emphasizes that it wasn’t concerning the taste.

Claux commented: “People consistently inquire about the flavor. And it wasn’t about the flavor itself. I can affirm that it is reminiscent of horse meat, as I was consuming horse tartare during that period.

    “But for me, it had more to do with the thrill, the feeling. Something I had never encountered before. It was constantly keeping me stimulated, invigorated.”

    Speaking on the subject of the murder, he further stated: “The intention wasn’t simply to kill for the act of killing itself. It was to acquire the meat. Because I had already been consuming diminutive portions of meat in the morgue and I had cultivated this strong desire.

    “I desired to kill in order to harvest the meat, with the objective of taking the meat back home.”
