While many of us encounter issues and conflicts with our neighbors at some stage, one lady was utterly shocked by the strange conduct of somebody living directly underneath her brother’s dwelling. It made Evelyn Amsdell question the lawfulness of her sibling’s neighbor’s actions. “Is this even allowed?” she penned in a caption accompanying a TikTok video.
“If you believe your downstairs neighbors are awful… picture waking up to them drilling into your bedroom.” Her brief video displayed a long drill bit protruding through her brother’s carpet, narrowly missing his electric dehumidifier situated barely an inch to the right.

The video has since become a sensation, accumulating an impressive 11 million views and generating a surge of remarks from bewildered TikTok viewers. “What are they drilling for, crude oil?” one puzzled person asked. Another questioned: “Why are they still attempting to drill any further?”.
A third adopted a more practical stance, commenting: “Maybe I’m dense but honestly I would probably think it was an accident. No need to alert the authorities, maybe just try speaking with your neighbors or property manager? Unintelligent people aren’t necessarily malevolent.”
Elsewhere, a fourth TikTok user emphasized the potential risk, noting: “That’s incredibly hazardous, even if it was unintentional, a pet or individual could have been present.”

And a fifth person suggested: “It seems as though they’re targeting whatever is vibrating the hell out of their place. But they were off target. Please install some sort of vibration-reducing pad under your fans, dehumidifier or air purifier. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes beneath them.”

Evelyn later went back to TikTok after gaining explanation regarding the circumstance. “Update on the drill in my brother’s floor predicament,” she shared along with another video showing a notice affixed to the entrance. “Got notification they’re [construction workers] entering his unit to fit the exhaust vent.
“They intend for the vent to ascend through his ceiling and encase it in drywall. Not to fret, his landlord promised him he won’t be liable for the damages!”
The notice indicated that construction would take place over a two-day period in November and would be conducted in the “common area hallways and to your individual unit”. It continued: “Construction to the property will be during daylight hours. We appreciate your patience during construction.”
“Do not consent to the vent,” one viewer cautioned in response. “Relocate.” Thankfully, Evelyn then revealed concerning her brother: “He is moving next month! Hopefully we can postpone the construction until that time.”
Nonetheless, she also mentioned in response to another TikTok user: “Now they’re threatening to forcibly enter so we’re going to try addressing it in the morning. Hoping they will assist but everyone seems apprehensive since the owner possesses a substantial portion of the city.”
