A woman, currently transforming her recently acquired building into her own bakery, has revealed a remarkable revelation she encountered beyond dense foliage at the back of the land.

Since acquiring the structure, formerly an optometrist’s office, Nelly has been documenting its transformation into a completely operational commercial space that will also accommodate her mother on the upper level. “Five years ago, I became enamored with this building… and today, it is finally mine,” she announced in an October TikTok post.

“It wasn’t for sale at that time, but I never stopped hoping. When it eventually came onto the market, I took the opportunity and acquired it! Now, I’m converting it into my ideal bakery – a space constructed from patience, ardor, and unwavering conviction.”

Sharing an update on the venture, Nelly confessed she was rendered “speechless” by the discovery behind a mysterious white portal. “We ultimately cleared the area surrounding that enigmatic entry… I was so eager to unlock it, and with some assistance from my mother-in-law, we did – and our discovery left us silent,” she expressed.

She continued to contemplate: “Another space, of which we were unaware, and the sellers also couldn’t have known? Utterly unbelievable.” Nelly then posted a time-lapse clip on TikTok showcasing the door’s unveiling, adding: “When I located this white portal whilst tidying the garden, I assumed it was an outside lavatory.”

Once the thorny plants had been extracted and mounds of unwanted garden detritus removed, it was time for the grand unveiling. Nelly continued her video as she opened the entry for the first time. “Wow look at that!” she exclaimed. “Oh it’s amazing and it is huge.”

Indeed, the pair soon discerned that the space was substantial in size and packed with abandoned furnishings. “There’s so much clutter and another skip is necessary, but wow!” Nelly remarked, noticing the space even features its own fireplace.

The discovery prompted others to speculate on its potential past usage. “Possibly an old scullery where the washing was handled,” one TikTok user commented. To which Nelly responded: “Possible, i thought they used to use it as living room and to cook food. Not an expert on the property types but this is in a small miner’s town, all terraced houses and they seemed to have been built similarly.”

Whilst a second person added: “Before you opened the door, from reading your description I thought it may have been a coal house but I’m thinking no after seeing the size! Good find!”

“Being in construction I’m always amazed how many people find these covered up doors after they bought the property, have people stopped having surveys done before buying?” a third individual asked. “Or are surveyors and estate agents just getting too lazy?”

Whilst a sceptic asked Nelly: “Why were you so surprised? You can see it’s an outbuilding and the size of it, from the outside?”

Nelly explained: “I think because of the state of the garden I just expected to find something in a really bad, stinky, smelly condition. Honestly didn’t cross my mind and haven’t seen a room like that before. It wasn’t included on the description when we bought the house so clearly the sellers didn’t know about it either as it was a probate.

“I bet the sellers would have asked for more money as this wasn’t part of the property description. I did pay for a full structural survey, but they couldn’t examine the back of the property because of the overgrown garden.”
