Marriages represent a flurry of feelings, ranging from sheer delight at marrying your beloved to the happiness of being surrounded by family and friends, along with the unavoidable melancholy for those unable to attend the celebration.
Weeping is a frequent occurrence at these occasions, whether stemming from joy or intense emotion, and is almost certain to happen at some point during the day.

The actual service can frequently be a particularly emotional occasion, especially when the couple exchange their personalised vows. Nonetheless, the bridal party might not have tissues readily available due to holding floral arrangements, potentially causing smudged makeup and tear-stained faces.
However, Annette, an award-winning wedding photographer hailing from Belfast who runs 4EverPhotos, revealed an ingenious technique she noticed while capturing a wedding earlier in the year.
She observed a makeup artist inserting a cotton swab into the bride’s bouquet as a precaution against any possible weeping.

Annette clarified: “Whilst I was documenting the bridal preparations, I noticed the makeup artist placing cotton buds within the bouquet. The reason? Because when those joyous tears flow (as they invariably do), tissues can smear your makeup or overlook those tiny corners of your eye.

“Cotton swabs, conversely, can delicately soak up tears without affecting your look – and they’re conveniently located in your bouquet, ready when needed. It’s the little behind-the-scenes strategies like this that allow weddings to proceed much more effortlessly.”
The idea is that cotton buds possess such a small size that they remain undetected in images and can be carefully placed inside a coat pocket or amongst the blossoms. The tip has been shared by a number of wedding professionals, with several commending it as “brilliant” and a “great idea.”

However, others acknowledged they would require more than a cotton bud to halt their tears, revealing their personal experiences and recommendations.
One individual commented: “Ohhh this is brilliant” A second contributed: “A cotton bud wouldn’t have done a thing for me. I cried great big, ugly tears. I was in need of a whole roll of toilet paper for my tears!”.
A third wrote: “Such a good tip. I’ll need them as the bride.” While another person mentioned: “I sobbed through my entire ceremony. I’d have required an entire box of tissues stuffed in my bra if I could repeat it.”
