Greggs fans amazed as they find ‘hidden’ feature on pasty wrappers

Details on the wrappers used by high street bakery chain Greggs has clearly gone unnoticed by many of its loyal customers

Greggs’ loyal customers have confessed to only just noticing a useful feature on the packaging of every pasty and sausage roll.

It appears hunger leads some to overlook the details on the back of Greggs’ steak bake and sausage, bean & cheese melt wrappers, with customers of the high street bakery discarding their paper wrappers without realising the handy tool on the back.

“Never looked at a Greggs wrapper before,” admitted a Reddit user in the CasualUK subreddit, who shared a picture of one. “They have a pasty guide. I got a cheese and onion bake.”

A closer look reveals different patterns on each product’s exterior, with tick boxes indicating specifics on breakfast item orders, such as included sauces.

The revelation sparked a mix of excitement and confessions from others who had also missed this detail. “I only noticed this the other day too,” one person replied. “I’m tempted to make a cross stitch of it.”

Another quipped: “I’d like this framed on my wall.” A third pointed out another advantage, explaining: “It also assists the server to remember the order with the tick boxes for sauces for sandwiches. The drawings on the bags are new in past couple months and the ticky breakfast boxes on the side have been on the bags for years.”

Meanwhile, a fourth shared that his grandmother finds “excitement” in the wrappers’ details. “My gran is 96 and recently I’ve introduced her to the chicken bake and that’s always what she wants as a treat when I take her out,” the Reddit user revealed.

“Every time she reads the wrapper and is excited by the menu though she never changes from the chicken bake. It makes her happy to explore the menu so I am happy that she’s happy. £2 for a chicken bake that is really well filled, hot and fresh, what’s not to like (her words).”

Last month, meanwhile, fans of the chain hit out at the rising prices of Greggs’ sausage rolls, saying it feels like the price tag “increases every week”. Foodies shared their frustration on Reddit where someone shared a snap of the popular pastries alongside the price £1.45 to eat out, or £1.75 to eat in.

They shared the post alongside the caption: “I swear it increases weekly.”

One person slammed in response: “I remember when you could get four for a quid.” Another voiced confusion, writing: “I swear not long ago it was 1.05.” A third replied: “When I started college in 2020 it was a quid. After two years it went up to £1.20. Seeing it progressively go up by 5p was quite the experience.”
