The duo sparked outrage on social media after a video showed a man massaging his partner’s bare feet during a flight
A bizarre video of two passengers engaging in a public display of affection during a flight has led to calls for them to be sent “straight to jail”.
The footage, shared by the Instagram account Passenger Shaming, shows a man caressing his partner’s bare feet, which are resting on his lap, in full view of other passengers on their flight. He continues to massage her legs, seemingly unaware that he is being recorded.
The caption of the post, which was viewed by the account’s 1.4 million followers, read: “Nightmare. Fuel. STRAIGHT TO JAIL.” The clip sparked a debate among Instagram users, with one person criticising the couple in disgust.
They said: “Bare feet + Public flights = NOPE. If you see nothing wrong with this, YOU are the problem. Sorry not sorry, *please* just keep your hooves to yourselves if you insist on flying commercial. I really don’t think that’s asking too much of our fellow citizens.”
Another added: “For the life of me, I just don’t understand why people behave this way in public! ” While a third commented: “The lack of self-awareness in people is stunning.”

However, a former cabin crew worker defended the couple, saying: “Me as a former flight attendant cannot see what is the issue here. Not touching anyone, the massage is clearly for circulation, so it’s a matter of health issues.”
A second person shared the same view, adding: “I mean, I get that it can be gross to some, but it looks like someone just trying to help their loved one with circulation to keep them safe.”
Meanwhile, a third Instagram user also agreed on health grounds, asking: “Honest question, if you have a medical condition that puts you at increased risk of blood clots, are you just supposed to risk it so that other passengers don’t see your feet? I’d much rather see the existence of someone’s foot instead of seeing them die from a blood clot.”
However, another person disagreed, claiming the man’s hands now posed a health risk to other passengers. “Well to start with he then uses the bathroom and touches the handle with her foot germs on the handles,” they argued. “Same with everything else he touches. Tray, screen, seat belt – none of which is ever wiped down between flights.”
