New Jersey State Police officers successfully relocated a young bear cub that was discovered alone alongside Interstate 78 on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from Troop B, based at the Perryville Station, responded around 1:37 p.m. to reports of a solitary cub observed in a ditch adjacent to I-78 East in Union Township, according to a New Jersey State Police Facebook update.

Upon arrival, the authorities found the small bear by itself and in need of assistance.

The cub was safely taken into custody and transported to the station for temporary care before being transferred to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, as stated in the post.

“Thanks to the prompt action of the troopers, the cub is now secure and receiving the necessary attention,” the post added.

Fox News Digital had previously covered another unusual bear incident involving a considerably larger animal that was reluctant to depart a California residence.

In Altadena, a 550-pound black bear had taken up residence in the crawlspace beneath a dwelling, where it persisted for weeks despite repeated attempts at removal.

Wildlife officials endeavored to entice the bear out using bait, illumination, and noise, but the creature persisted in returning to the area.

The predicament was ultimately resolved when a wildlife response team employed an unconventional strategy, entering the confined space beneath the house and discharging paintballs filled with vegetable oil to compel the bear’s departure.

The maneuver proved effective, and the bear vacated the crawlspace after weeks of unsuccessful efforts.

Authorities later confirmed that the animal was no longer present beneath the house and that the crawl space had been secured to prevent its return.
