Last week, an elderly gentleman from Florida faced police intervention twice for allegedly revealing himself to several residents in his apartment building. It seems the idea of spending one’s final years peacefully might not be for everyone.
On Wednesday, the second consecutive day police were summoned, he was apprehended on various counts. Authorities stated that neighbors of the 79-year-old, Tyrone James Causey, who favored wearing a thong, were “increasingly concerned and frustrated with his continued behavior.”
According to Local 10, he was accused of performing “lewd gestures,” which included “thrusting his penis” towards a woman’s doorbell camera during his routine strolls around the residential complex.
When Officer Savannah Hutcheson of the Hollywood Police Department arrived at his residence for a conversation, she reported that he answered the door while donning a “G-string thong.”
The officer noted that Causey informed her he possessed “a right to walk around naked under Florida Statute 800.001” and that such actions were “only illegal in parks, not in public.” Citing statutes can sometimes give the impression of possessing knowledge on the subject.
Hutcheson documented in her report, as per the local news source, that she clarified for him that it was indeed against the law for him “to walk around in public exposing himself.” During their interaction, the elderly gentleman, according to the officer, applied lipstick, “began touching his penis” and instructed her to “jump rope for me, baby doll.”

This was certainly not the most effective strategy, and Causey, if his aim was to evade legal trouble, did not improve his situation at all. His assertion that he roamed the apartment complex unclothed “because he is allowed to and that he did not know he was being filmed” also failed to assist him.
Law enforcement located five neighbors who reported witnessing the elderly man in the thong expose himself, leading to his arrest on five counts of indecent exposure.
The judge determined there was probable cause for standard misdemeanor charges, and Local 10 further reported that by Friday afternoon, Causey was no longer listed in the Broward County jail’s records.
