A Florida lynx has beaten a Burmese python in what conservation biologists see as a victory for the Everglades' native predators.

Scientists continue to study how and when native predators interact with invasive snakes, but the study's findings suggest that native species are beginning to use the competition as a potential food source.

The snake's remains were discovered near the city of Naples in December 2022 by wildlife research biologist Jan Bartoszek of the Southwest Florida Conservation Authority.
