An elderly woman was taken to hospital after she was attacked by a stray bear while she was shopping.
Last Tuesday, the animal walked into a Dollar General store in Vernon, New Jersey, and was chased out by police, who shot it with rubber bullets.
Two hours later he returned, attacked the dog of the owner of a nearby restaurant, and then went back into the store.
He continued to roam the aisles, occasionally attacking customers and pets.
Footage taken by a local man trying to lure the 175-pound (80 kg) woman out of the store shows her pacing listlessly as if she were vomiting.
The man can be heard saying to the bear, “What's wrong, buddy? You're a big, nasty bastard.”

As she gets closer to him, he nervously asks, “Where the hell is the door?”
According to local police, by this point the bear had already attacked the 90-year-old woman, scratching and biting her on the leg.
An employee at a nearby business told The New York Times that the woman appeared unfazed by the incident.
After being warned there was a bear in the store, the woman reportedly said, “I know it jumped me,” and continued shopping.
She was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The dog was not injured, and its owner said the bear attacked the German Shepherd without biting or scratching it.

The bear had been spotted in the area for several hours before it entered the store.
Following the incident at the store, the animal was tracked to a nearby parking lot, where police decided it needed to be euthanized.
Government authorities seized the carcass to test it for rabies.
Authorities in Sussex County, where Vernon is located, recorded 294 bear-related incidents as of last month, the highest number of any county in the state.
