The Orionid meteor shower can be observed on the night of October 21: will Belarusians see it?

On the night of October 21, the Orionid meteor shower will approach Earth and will be visible for an extended period of time.

If the weather gets in the way, the next meteor shower will only be visible in a year, writes a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti.

The stream will reach its maximum power on the night of October 21, TASS reports, citing the Moscow Planetarium.

You can watch it until dawn on October 21 or that same evening, but not before 9:00 pm Moscow time.

The only thing that could interfere with observation is bad weather. However, if the sky is cloudless, the meteor shower will be visible above the southeastern horizon.

Time: from midnight until dawn (local time).

Even though this time the Orionids' activity falls on the new moon, the night light will not impair visibility.

The fall rate is expected to be up to 15 meteors per hour.

Every year from October 2 to November 7, the Orionid meteor shower from the constellation Orion can be observed from Earth.

The stream is created when the planet passes through the trail of particles from Halley's Comet, which burn up in the atmosphere, resulting in the formation of “shooting stars”.
