10 Trillion Suns: Supermassive Black Hole's Flash Is the Most Powerful Ever

The 2018 record has been broken. Astronomers have recorded the most powerful flash of light in recorded history.

The source was a supermassive black hole, reports a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti.

Its luminosity exceeded that of 10 trillion suns, 40 times greater than the previous record set in 2018.

Details were revealed by experts from the California Institute of Technology.

The colossal release of energy likely occurred because a large star approached the black hole at a critical distance and was torn apart by its gravity.

Another record has been recorded that is related to the Earth.

The flare occurred at a distance of about 10 billion light years from us.

This makes it the most distant such phenomenon ever recorded by humanity.
