A woman has 'forgiven' her husband who was convicted over the shooting of a sex worker he had hired for a party to celebrate the birth of his daughter.
Elena Postnova, 25, was in a maternity hospital when Snezhana Chepsorakova, 22, died from gunshot wounds at a home in Minusinsk, Russia.
Unknown to her, husband Konstantin Zaytsev, 33, had invited two male friends and three sex workers for a party to mark the child’s birth.
The businessman was initially held on suspicion of murder in a dispute over payment of the women and served eight months in a pre-trial detention jail.
Later the charge – which he had denied – was reclassified and he was convicted of “inflicting death by negligence” for failing to check the gun was loaded when he brandished it in front of the woman.

He and the sex worker fumbled with the weapon and a bullet shot into her head, killing the single mother on the spot in February 2018, the court ruled.
Zaytsev was freed after a judge decided his eight months in detention was equivalent to the punishment for killing Chepsorakova through negligence.
Postnova has not spoken about the incident but recently posted family pictures to show she has forgiven her husband, says a media report.

The images show the couple happily on a beach holiday with their daughter, now almost two.
Chepsorakova had a daughter aged three when she was killed.
Prosecutors said that Zaytsev had “celebrated the birth of his child at home in the company of friends and women who provided intimate services for money”.

During a “conflict over the payment for services” the man killed her with a shot to the head.
The later court statement on the case said that Zaytsev had taken the gun from his bedroom.
Chepsorakova got hold of it and put it on the kitchen table but it fell.
Zaytsev tried to grab it and as he did so “pressed the trigger and it shot into the head of the woman guest”.
He had no motive to shoot her dead, the court decided.

Media outlet Bad News reported Zaytsev is “now enjoying a happy family life with the same wife Elena Postnova” and that their social media shows them on a seaside holiday.
The case produced a flurry of comments including criticism of an “astonishingly lenient sentence for killing a woman”.
“This is just ridiculous, I hardly believe it,” said one.
Another wrote: “The wife stayed with him – so what?
“Do you think that a normal woman would divorce a successful man because of a dead sex worker?”
One more said: “The wife has clearly chosen money and comfortable life… it is a good reason to forget about him being unfaithful”.
