A man has shared a snap of his dad’s impressive collection of hotel shampoo bottles – but people have been left confused over the reason he’s amassed so many.
A Reddit user has left the internet in stitches after revealing his father’s quirky collection of hotel shampoo bottles, despite the man being “almost bald”.
The post displayed a vast array of unopened shampoo bottles, with a caption from user ClemFandango9 reading: “My dad’s hotel shampoos collection. This isn’t even everything but he’d need two more bathrooms. Do you collect anything unusual?”
Users were amused and perplexed, especially since the bottles appeared unused – a detail that the son attributed to his father’s lack of hair.
One commenter wrote: “Very impressive, although even more so if your dad is completely bald.”
The original poster responded: “He is almost bald, hence not using them at the hotels I guess.”

The man also revealed his father might have to give up this unique hobby due to retirement. One curious Redditor enquired: “Collections of objects stimulate my brain, I like it. Does he travel often, it needs more shampoos,” prompting the son to reply: “He did before retiring. I wonder what habit he’ll replace it with now.”
Some users humorously suggested the father should start his own hotel to finally put the shampoos to good use. The thread also became a confessional for others sharing their own peculiar hoarding stories.

One wrote: “I once worked with a guy, the engineers at the company travelled a lot as did he. He would ask for the aeroplane sick bags, to add to his collection. He had around 4 ring binders full of the things.”
A second individual reminisced: “When I was a kid my dad used to travel for work a lot, and he started bringing me back the soaps from his hotel stays. I amassed a bit of a collection so when we were at a car boot sale somewhere, there was a stall with loads of different glass wear and he said to pick out something for the soaps. I picked a big pentagon shaped jar, and we filled it with his hotel soaps.”
