Woman divides with ‘genius’ hack to keep valuables safe on beach

A woman has divided people over her ‘genius’ hack to ensure your valuables stay safe when you’re relaxing on the beach.

A woman’s ‘genius’ trick for protecting her valuables at the beach has been hailed by parents – but not everyone is a fan.

Known online as Lani – The Hyde Five, the mindful mum demonstrated in a TikTok clip how she wraps her phone and car keys in a nappy before casually placing it on the sand.

She captioned the viral video with a cheeky quip, writing: “I mean, who would steal a dirty nappy? The clever ruse racked up over 1,800 likes and scores of comments from people dubbing it a “brilliant” tactic. One user extolled: “Classic! Love it.”

Another chimed in, saying: “I’ve been doing this for eight years and I’m already on my third child.” A different user without children mentioned: “I don’t have kids but I could always buy adult diapers.”

However, some pointed out potential pitfalls it could all end in tears if a well-meaning relative or an eco-conscious beachgoer tossed the disguised treasures, mistaking them for rubbish.

One commenter cautioned: “Until a helpful friend or family member chucks it out.” Echoing this sentiment, another noted their spouse had indeed binned it, while another mused about beach cleaners possibly throwing it away thinking it’s rubbish.

But Lani doesn’t just stop at safeguarding belongings; she’s also got a top tip for sprucing up grubby Crocs.

In another widely viewed TikTok, she advises: “This is the best cleaning hack for Crocs and manky little toddlers. You need to run to Aldi and get this dishwashing soap. It is the best and gets everything off everything.”

She is captured on camera placing the Crocs in a sink, dousing them with warm water, and then liberally applying Tandil Ultra liquid. After a brief scrub, she claims that’s all it takes to restore them to their former glory.
