SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on Thursday evening, carrying 28 more V2 Starlink mini-satellites into low Earth orbit as part of its mission to expand its growing network of internet satellites.
It was SpaceX's 475th Falcon 9 launch since the company began launching internet satellites into space in 2010. The satellites separated from the payload bay about an hour and five minutes after liftoff.
It was the 23rd mission for the reusable first stage rocket, which returned about 8.5 minutes after liftoff to the unmanned ship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean east of the Bahamas, according to SpaceX. It was the 105th time the barge has been used to retrieve a booster.
The V2 satellites are slightly lighter than those previously deployed. SpaceX has developed a slightly larger and heavier version of the next generation of satellites.
