Birds have inhabited our planet since the time of dinosaurs, hunting, foraging, and raising their fluffy chicks from generation to generation.

These feathered creatures now inhabit every continent, sometimes migrating thousands of miles to their seasonal habitats. Their birdlike trills, chirps, and whistles can often be heard thanks to the syrinx, a vocal organ that has two independent sound sources, as opposed to the single one found in humans.

Scientific research shows that some bird species have amazing intelligence. For example, crows understand the concept of zero, and an African grey parrot named Alex had a vocabulary of over 100 words. Birds are also able to dance to music and use instruments.
