Patient: 31-year-old female from the UK.

Symptoms: The patient had a history of type 1 diabetes, mild learning disabilities, and end-stage renal disease. For the latter condition, she was on dialysis three times a week.

This treatment replaces the kidneys' function by removing waste and excess fluid from the bloodstream, and patients are advised to limit fluid and salt intake between sessions. Otherwise, fluid can build up in the body because the kidneys cannot filter it, leading to weight gain and strain on the heart.
