New Metal Bear Tooth Is World's Largest Crown

A bear named Tundra has become the owner of the largest dental crown in history.

Brown bear Tundra has received the largest dental crown ever installed, officials at the Lake Superior Zoo in Minnesota said.

The bear had broken one of his four main canines and needed a first-of-its-kind metal crown to protect it. A veterinary dentist successfully fitted the specially designed silver crown during an hour-long surgery at the zoo on June 23.

“Tundra the brown bear just made dental history!” a Lake Superior Zoo spokesperson said in an Instagram post. “We are thrilled to announce that Tundra is the first bear in the world to receive a full metal crown, and it’s also the largest veterinary crown ever created!”
