Astronomers have captured a stunning new image of the Sculptor Galaxy, rendered in a multitude of colours and revealing the complexity of galactic systems.

This incredible image of a galaxy about 11 million light-years from Earth, also known as NGC 253, was taken using the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) instrument on the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile.

In addition to providing a general overview of the Sculptor Galaxy, the image also reveals intricate details of NGC 253. This may help reveal finer aspects of less-studied and complex systems such as galaxies.
