The brightest comet of this autumn, C/2025 A6 (Lemmon), is rapidly rushing towards Earth.
According to astronomers' calculations, this space object will make its closest approach to the blue planet on October 21, reports a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti.
TASS reports this, citing Lyudmila Koshman, head of the Moscow Planetarium's methodological support department.

According to the specialist, on the said day the comet “will pass its perigee – the closest point in its orbit to the Earth.”
This point is located at a distance of 89,185,647 km.
By now, the comet's brightness has reached the fifth stellar magnitude (+4.8m).
Therefore, it becomes the brightest comet of autumn 2025.
Thanks to such brightness, the object can be observed through binoculars, an amateur telescope, and in clear weather, even without these means, with the naked eye.
Lemmon can be seen in October and November in Russia, as well as in other countries of the Northern Hemisphere in high and temperate latitudes.
The comet can already be seen in the evenings in the constellation Canes Venatici.
Specifically, under the Big Dipper, not far from the bright star Arcturus, over which it will fly at the end of October.
Scientists believe that the comet will reach its maximum brightness on October 26.
