A man, bothered by his roommate’s 5:30 a.m. smoothie ritual, received huge backing online from individuals who understood his predicament — plus his resourceful method of attempting to handle it.

The man, who indicated in a Reddit post that he’s 30 years old and a resident of Melbourne, Australia, utilized the platform to express his frustration regarding how his housemate uses a noisy blender to prepare smoothies in the mornings when he’s pressed for time to get to work.

The poster stated he occupies a townhouse alongside the man and his girlfriend, and they maintain a definitive house rule of “quiet hours” spanning from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m. 

The annoyed roommate mentioned he’s endeavored to offer solutions to the issue, even purchasing a $40 portable blender for the man to operate in his vehicle. 

The man consented to do so — however, his girlfriend accused the original poster of attempting to “dictate her partner’s dietary choices.”

The man expressed that the couple brushed aside his grievances as “trivial” and mentioned the man has to “cope with it” – otherwise, his roommate would “go without food.” 

In subsequent posts, the Redditor revealed that whenever he attempts to engage in a serious discussion regarding the matter, the couple evades it, occasionally asserting the man is asleep by 7 p.m. 

“He awakens me at 5:30 a.m. via a blender, but by 7 p.m. he’s excessively tired to chat,” the man penned.

Currently, he’s contemplating a relocation.

“I acquired the [portable] blender to enable me to sleep and ‘maintain harmony’ [while] I search for an alternate shared residence — as their reaction to this was quite revealing and disappointing — and presumptuous,” he wrote.
