Poll: Should Woolly Mammoths Be Brought Back?

Woolly mammoths disappeared about 4,000 years ago. Is it time to bring them back? (Image credit: VICTOR HABBICK VISIONS/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY – Getty Images)

Biotech firm Colossal Biosciences on Tuesday (March 4) showed off photos and videos of “scruffy mice” whose fur resembles the thick fur that kept woolly mammoths warm during the last ice age.

Colossal scientists used mice because their short gestation period makes it much easier to test the genetic modifications and engineering needed to perform the same procedure on elephants, with the hope that they could one day “resurrect” woolly mammoths (Mammuthus primigenius).

But should we do it? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments below.
