It's no surprise that women are attracted to tall and powerful men. Experts from the University of Utah in the United States believe this can be easily explained by evolutionary theory.
According to evolutionary theory, humans were forced to switch from all fours to legs only because it made them stronger in the struggle for survival. A blow delivered from above, rather than below, becomes more powerful, giving an upright creature greater advantages. Perhaps this is why taller men involuntarily evoke in women associations of strength and the ability to protect themselves and their children from danger.
However, it's unclear why, today, when men's physical strength plays a lesser role than their possession of power or weapons, women still prefer tall men. Experts explain that weapons of mass destruction were developed only 15 generations ago. Therefore, women still evaluate men's reliability and strength based on their physical attributes.
Moreover, we subconsciously associate height with health, increased intelligence, and social dominance. This means that tall partners are more likely to pass on “good” genes to their offspring.
