What are the most dangerous sex positions?

Sex can be not only pleasurable, but also dangerous. Experts have identified four sexual positions that can be harmful to your health.

After conducting a study, Debbie Herbenick from Indiana University Bloomington identified the main sex positions that most often lead to various injuries. The most common position is one in which the man stands on his toes and the woman sits on an elevated surface—a table, countertop, washing machine, or other piece of furniture. According to Harvard University researcher Justin Lehmiller, this position can lead to various penile injuries. Using an exercise ball for sex is also dangerous. Experimenting with the ball can harm both the man and the woman.

The well-known “cowgirl” position can be dangerous when the woman doesn't lean on the man's torso, but instead bends backward. This sexual position increases the risk of developing Peyronie's disease, or penile fibroplastic induration, a relatively rare condition that causes penile curvature. These are the findings of a study conducted by scientists from the University of California.

The standing missionary position, where the man holds the woman in his arms, also made the list of the most dangerous sex positions. Statistically, this position puts the man at risk of serious back injury, and the woman at risk of falling.
