According to a survey conducted by UK experts, women enjoy spending their free time reading books. They are particularly drawn to racy novels containing explicit scenes.
The survey included women aged 45 to 60. It found that 35% of them enjoyed reading books with a romantic theme. More than half of respondents admitted to enjoying intimate scenes and were also captivated and aroused by the sexual adventures of novel characters. Ten percent of women reported specifically seeking out books with a predominance of sexually explicit scenes.
Approximately 33% of women prefer detectives and thrillers across all genres, while 31% prefer other genres. Reference books are the most popular. Cooking books are the most popular reference books among women.
The authors of the study reported that their research shows that reading books for pleasure is quite popular among women. Many people read at least one book per month, and some even more. However, the researchers were surprised by the number of women who buy books for the sexual content.
