Girl suffers horror burns after nursery cook spills scalding soup on her

    A little girl was rushed to hospital with horrific injuries after a kindergarten cook spilt a pot of scalding-hot soup on her.

    Karina Iskalieva, six, suffered severe burns to 30% of her body following the incident in the city of Aktau in the eastern part of Kazakhstan.

    The moment of the incident was filmed on a surveillance camera in the kindergarten #43 and shared online by local media.

    The clip shows Karina running out of the canteen and colliding with a female cook carrying a pot with a soup.

    The collision causes the pot to tip over and the scalding-hot soup spills upon the girl.

    Next footage shows the cook grabbing the child and dragging her away from the doorway reportedly trying to hide the incident from the camera.

    Other children can be seen gathering near the door apparently hearing Karina's terrified screams while their teacher, a woman in a black dress is paying no attention.

    The girl's mother Sania Iskalieva said to local media: "The kindergarten staff did not call an ambulance trying to cover up the incident.

    "They took off Karina's clothes along with the burned skin that was stuck to it.

    "When my husband and I came after a call, we saw our daughter naked, shivering with the cold and crying in pain."

    The parents wrapped Karina in a blanket and took her to hospital, reports said.

    The girl was diagnosed with severe burns to 30 per cent of her body including her face, neck, shoulders and legs.

    The upset mother Sania told: "You can't even imagine what our family experienced."

    Local educational authorities conducted an investigation and fired those who were on duties during the incident.

    Educational authorities spokeswoman Akmaral Baishakhanova said: "The teacher, cook and nurse were fired for violating safety rules and failing to fulfil their professional duties."

    Now, nine months after the incident, Karina's parents sued the local educational authorities and those involved.

    The family have demanded 5,000,000 Kazakhstani tenge (about £9,600) in damages.

    The mother said: "My daughter spent several months in hospitals.

    "She was wearing stockings in the summer hiding her scars from other children.

    "I blame the kindergarten staff for what happened. I want them to be punished.

    "I want everybody to know how the local educational service works."
