“Ths sntnc s mssng ts vwls.” You can probably guess what words we're talking about – “there are no vowels in this sentence” – even though some letters of the alphabet are missing.
But how is it possible to recognize words without vowels?
Your brain doesn't read words letter by letter, experts explained to Live Science. Instead, it looks for patterns, takes into account context, and then makes guesses. So even if a word is misspelled or missing vowels, your brain should be able to understand it.
