The man was shocked to learn a crab had crawled into his ear
A baby crab crawled into a man's ear while he was enjoying a day out at the beach.
The 38-year-old suddenly felt something crawl inside his ear as he was making the most of the sun in Abu Dhabi, but didn't know what it was.
When it began to cause him unbearable pain, he took himself off to hospital.
Following an examination, doctors found that a live baby crab had entered his right ear canal causing it to swell up.
Medics had to remove it urgently to avoid any damage in an endoscope assisted procedure.
The man told the Gulf News : "I was on the beach when I suddenly realised that something went inside my ear. I couldn’t figure out what it was.
"All I could feel was that it was annoying. But never had I thought that it would be a crab."
He added: "I was afraid that my organ would be damaged but I am grateful to the doctor for his swift action."
The man, who has not been named, said he felt reassured by the doctor's calmness and kindness.
Dr Prabir Paul, specialist otolaryngology at Burjeel MHPC, Marina Mall, said the man was lucky that no damage was done to the inner ear.
