Josefa Lima de Souza, 65, has confessed to the murder of Celso Marques Ferreira, 60, who was found dead without a penis and part of his heart in a town square in the resort town of Peruibe, Brazil.
A Brazilian pensioner who killed a man and then cooked and ate his penis and heart has been arrested.
Josefa Lima de Souza, 65, confessed to the horrific crime after being arrested along with her partner, who police believe was her accomplice. Celso Marques Ferreira, 60, was found dead without his penis and part of his heart in a town square in the resort of Peruibe, two hours south of Sao Paulo.
A knife with dried blood was found at the scene, as well as a bloody note left next to Celso's mutilated body, which claimed that a woman named “gringa” – as locals called suspect Josefa – was responsible for the murder. The 65-year-old woman claimed she carried out the horrific act after learning he was a child rapist. She reportedly told police she had previously cooked and eaten his penis and heart.
A 41-year-old man known locally as Robson Aparecido de Oliveira was also arrested. His acquaintances linked him to the crime, claiming he had threatened Celso shortly before the murder.
Although he denies any involvement, police believe that Josefa could not have carried out such shocking acts alone. Police are believed to be searching for a third man who they believe was also involved. They have not commented on rumours that Celso sexually abused children. The victim and the two men arrested lived on the street and are believed to have regularly slept in the square where Celso's body was found.
In December 2023, a jealous Brazilian wife confessed to cutting off her husband's penis and flushing it down the toilet. Diane dos Santos, then 34, went to the police station and claimed she had acted out of revenge after learning Gilberto Nogueira de Oliveira had cheated on her with her 15-year-old niece.
The professional cook turned off the lights in their home in Atibaia, near Sao Paulo, after propositioning her husband for kinky sex and tying his hands with her panties before attacking Gilberto. She told police she then flushed his organ down the toilet to make sure it could not be reattached.
Gilberto, a petrol station attendant and part-time taxi driver, started an online campaign to try to raise money for a penis replacement surgery after he was rushed to hospital. He struggled to raise enough funds and was forced to move on with his life without it.
Diane was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for the horrific act in December 2023. It was later revealed that Gilberto, 40, had forgiven his wife and visited her in prison.
At the time, Gilberto told local media: “My routine is almost normal. But sex is not normal, right? Firstly, because I am without a partner, and secondly, I don't have the equipment. But my social life, work and other things are normal.”
