Woman ‘who smeared dead coronavirus victim’s saliva on her face’ tests positive for Covid-19
A woman who allegedly smeared salvia from a dead coronavirus patient onto her own face has unsurprisingly tested positive for the virus too.
Health authorities in Batam in the Riau Islands have now found the woman, who can be identified by her initials as HL, who has taken a swab test and tested positive for Covid-19. Her daughter has also been tested but her test was negative.
Authorities allegedly picked HL and her daughter up at a private clinic where they were preparing to do a rapid Covid test, reports Coconuts.
After a video of them being hauled circulated this week, the two of them have been brought to a specialist coronvirus hospital on Galang Island.
HL herself claimed she had smeared her face with the salvia of a dead Covid patient but, according to Batam City’s Head of Health Agency Didi Kusmarjadi this has not been confirmed.
The search for HL started last Thursday after a number of people close to her tested positive for the virus.
The woman helped to move the dead man's body from the hospital
HL picked up the body of a dead coronavirus patient, identified as YHG, at the morgue at BP Batam Hospital.
YHG's test results had not come out when he died but loved ones were unwilling to wait so they got his body from the hospital so they could have the wake at home.
It was during this time that HL allegedly dug her hands into the dead man's mouth and smeared his saliva on her face while taunting doctors.
Didi, however, said: "She was just bluffing, it was a one-sided claim. How would she dare, there was no one who saw her smearing the saliva, and there were many people around when it [allegedly] occurred."
If, however, HL actually did smear the saliva on her face, it's unclear as to why she would have done this.
Tests showed YHG was actually infected with Covid so his body had to be brought back to hospital to be buried as protocol dictates for those who die with the virus.
Out of the 24 people who picked up YHG's body, 12 tested positive for coronavirus and 23 of them were quarantined. HL was the only one who managed to get away from health authorities.
