Ziv Nitzan, from Moshav Ramot Meir, Israel, was walking with her parents and two older sisters at the foot of the hill where Tel Azeka is located when she discovered a strangely shaped rock. However, when her family looked at it more closely, they realized it was no ordinary rock.

“We were walking along a path, and suddenly Ziv bent down and, out of all the stones, she chose this one,” her sister Omer said in a Facebook post by the Israel Antiquities Authority. “When she rubbed it and cleaned the sand off, we noticed that it had changed. I called my parents to come see this wonderful stone, and we realized that we had witnessed an archaeological find! We immediately reported it to the Israel Antiquities Authority.”
