A US woman now based in the UK has ignited a lively debate after identifying four cherished British favourites that she finds completely bewildering. YorkshirePeachFan, who boasts a following of 26,900 on TikTok, frequently posts content focusing on her experiences as an expatriate in Britain. In her most recent video, she admitted to being perplexed by four typically British items.

She introduced her contentious reveal by cautioning: “I anticipate a lot of criticism for this one, as some of these are quite controversial, but truth time: I have to be honest.” Her first target was a popular chocolate treat that has won the affection of the British public, according to reports from the Mirror.

Pointing to an image of a Kinder Bueno bar, she exclaimed: “I hadn’t encountered this until my arrival here. It appears people in the UK are greatly fond of it.

“I dislike all of it. I dislike the hippos, I dislike the bars, I dislike the small egg-shaped sweets with the tiny spoon, I dislike anything Bueno.”

While Kinder is originally from the Italian confectionery giant Ferrero, it is a familiar item on British shop shelves.

Her second point of contention focused on another classic sweet – jelly babies. Indicating a package of the confectionery, whose origins date back to 1918, YorkshirePeachFan declared: “You all are crazy about these, but I can’t stand them.

“I enjoy sweets, I enjoy jelly beans, I enjoy chewy sweets, but their texture is simply off-putting. I struggle to articulate it. Surely someone else shares my view, is there anyone? Does everyone adore these? I cannot abide them. I find them absolutely repulsive.”

Revealing her third choice, she observed: “It’s exceptionally popular in this nation. They’re distributed during Easter, they’re distributed during Christmas, some individuals consume them throughout the year, they’re available year-round, and it’s a classic staple that I was unfamiliar with until I relocated here, and that’s the Terry’s Chocolate Orange.”

Stating that “orange and chocolate should never coexist”, she added: “I even revisited it a few months ago to assess whether, given that I now identify as British, my taste might have adapted. However, alas, no such alteration occurred. It simply doesn’t appeal to me. I fail to comprehend its appeal on any level.”

For her fourth and concluding selection, YorkshirePeachFan directed attention to a photograph of a packet of After Eights. She remarked: “It’s akin to toothpaste in a chocolate bar. Surely you wouldn’t consider it? You wouldn’t include toothpaste in a chocolate bar, so why this?”.

“You all are keen on mint and chocolate over here. I just cannot tolerate it in any capacity. I literally experience a gag reflex.

“It’s a firm rejection from me regarding any and all mint chocolate. Someone suggested ‘oh well, you must sample the Aero, you must sample the Aero because that’s a game changer’. I tried it, and I gagged. I simply cannot manage it.”

As anticipated, her comments prompted a wave of varied reactions, with some endorsing her opinion, while others were appalled by her criticism of their cherished sweets.

One individual responded: “So, you’re not obligated to like the Bueno, which is acceptable, not everyone does. It’s not inherently British, but refrain from attacking the Kinder bar!!! I cherished them as a child!! Regarding Jelly Babies, you’re mistaken, Terry’s choc orange is debatable, and I’ll concede the After Eights. They are truly awful!”

Another remarked: “Evidently, there exist some items sold in the UK that you dislike. Similarly, Brits don’t favour everything that’s sold here either. I’m confident there are items available in the US that you also dislike. So what? We don’t all have identical preferences, surely that’s understandable.”

Another person commented: “I concur with you on the Kinder Bueno, but all the rest are top-tier!”

A separate user proclaimed: “I was in agreement with you until the After Eights.”

While another simply stated: “I’m afraid you are incorrect about all these items.”
