While tending to a garden, one typically expects to find stubborn weeds, earthworms, and the occasional lump of dirt.
However, a man was astonished when he exhumed a “creepy container” concealed under some patio stones whilst reorganising his yard.

Sharing his find on the internet, he declared: “I came across a fascinating time capsule/memorial box whilst doing some gardening. I was lifting a few slabs in the garden, and after shifting some gravel and soil, I spotted this strange little box.
“I’m not quite sure what to think of it, but it contains some interesting keepsakes and an adorable drawing of a young lady with ‘Odette’ scribbled on the reverse.”
He mentioned the box had experienced “considerable fire damage” but remarkably withstood the weather across the years.

Hoping to give it to the relatives of whoever buried it approximately 9 decades ago, he expressed: “The only clear information is ‘Odette’ written on the back of the image. But the small book was published in 1939.”

Responding to his post, one person wrote: “Perhaps it’s the blend of wax, scorch marks, and that forbidding-looking symbol, but I’m fairly certain you’ve just unleashed a doomsday-type curse.”
In a follow-up, he detailed how he was able to track down the previous occupant and got in touch with their relation, named Lyn.
He discovered the box was buried by Lyn’s deceased mother’s sibling – but she had absolutely no knowledge of it until this moment.
The man added: “Lyn moved into the house for a period. She said she didn’t feel comfortable being there. The house was initially owned by her mum’s sister, Odette, who resided there up until her passing in the early ’80s.
“Lyn identified the drawing, necklaces, and butterfly pin as Odette’s. She didn’t know much about her, as she apparently kept to herself.

“Lyn also mentioned that she is aware Odette had been widowed for a while and did not have any offspring.
“Both her mum and Odette were active Wiccans but argued regularly over the church. The church dissolved when Lyn was an adolescent, sometime in the ’60s.
“It was operated from Odette’s residence and was only composed of four other women. I displayed the articles to her, and she said that, because Odette was her mum’s only sister, she must have been married to the man whose grave was unfortunately robbed – or to the brother also mentioned.
“She believes she has some of Odette’s possessions among her mum’s.”

Following their investigation into the puzzling box, the two decided to rebury it and arranged to convene at the property to select a suitable location.
Responding to his update, one person posted: “I think it’s excellent that you intend to rebury the box. What a pleasant little adventure for you!”
A second person commented: “Thank you for the follow-up! Please do keep us abreast of any future developments.”
