NASA disproves bizarre gravity loss claim.

A fabricated theory alleging our planet will be absent of gravitational pull for a brief duration this year, supposedly causing millions of fatalities, has gained traction – and NASA has issued a response Share Article Share Article Facebook X LinkedIn Reddit Bluesky Email Copy Link Link copied Bookmark Comments

A worrying fictitious narrative proposing Earth will be without gravity later in the year has been officially refuted by NASA. The assertion claimed that on August 12 at 14:33GMT, the world would undergo a total gravitational absence, lasting exactly seven seconds.

Those advocating the bogus theory asserted this occurrence was unveiled in a NASA document entitled ‘Project Anchor’ released in November 2024.

Subsequently, they resorted to social media websites to disseminate this concept. Across Instagram and X, formerly Twitter, users started sharing this supposition, with its supporters cautioning it would instigate “60 million deaths” stemming from individuals falling to their doom.

One Instagram user, using the handle @mr_danya_of, stated: “On August 12, 2026, the globe will experience a loss of gravity for seven seconds. NASA is aware. They are preparing but won’t inform us why.”

This person predicted as many as 60 million deaths in a hypothesis that has since been thoroughly debunked. As the falsehood gained traction, NASA stepped in to illuminate why, from a scientific perspective, such a situation is unachievable, according to the Mirror.

In a statement to fact-checking website Snopes, they verified that the solitary condition under which Earth might relinquish gravity would be if the planet’s overall mass were to shift.

A representative from the space agency declared: “The Earth will not be without gravity on August 12, 2026. Earth’s gravitational force, or total gravity, is based upon its mass.

“The only avenue for Earth to lose gravity would be if the Earth system, the cumulative mass of its core, mantle, crust, ocean, terrestrial water, and atmosphere, were to shed mass.”

This signifies another case of alarming predictions for 2026 surfacing, with people again referencing Nostradamus for revelations into what is in store for mankind this year.

The New York Post states that the famous philosopher made no particular forecasts for this specific year, although this has not dissuaded people from examining his writings regardless.

Researchers scrutinising Nostradamus’ writings assert that the 26th verse of Century I says a “great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt”.

In the meantime, another segment from quatrain VII allegedly sees Nostradamus announcing: “Foists and galleys around seven ships, a mortal war will be let loose.”

Some commentators have considered this might allude to the South China Sea and the actions of China in that area, but nothing has been verified.
