A pair from Yorkshire revamping their dwelling were left “astonished” after they discovered a “hidden feature” concealed within a wall in their property. One couple, originating from Leeds in West Yorkshire, acquired a house that had been “derelict” for a half-decade before their purchase, and they are currently endeavoring to convert it into their ideal permanent residence.
The twosome were completely surprised after taking off what seemed to be a fireplace covering, only to reveal what could quite possibly be an AGA stove obscured behind it.
They recorded their discovery on camera and shared it on TikTok, where the short video has amassed over 1.6 million views up to this point.

As the flimsy panel comes away from the wall to reveal the cream heating appliance lying in wait beneath, the man responds with startled pleasure, simply exclaiming, “ooh.”
The woman then exclaims with enthusiasm: “It’s an AGA!”
In the description accompanying the footage, the pair penned: “Not what we thought, really thought it would be a capped [off] fireplace”.
Within the comments section, viewers were keen to express their opinions. One individual stated: “Please make it a feature”.

The couple responded: “Oh wow.. we just might find something similar…here’s hoping”.
Another person cautioned: “Get it checked for asbestos if you’re keeping it better to be safe! Good find though”.
In response to many people’s bewilderment regarding the function of an AGA, one TikTok user clarified: “So many people are confused in the comments, it’s a basic cast iron oven, heated by whatever you put in the adjoining firepit. I grew up with this being used whenever the power went out, usually thanks to one of the farmers putting their tractor through the cables.
“Depending on condition/size/type, these can go for a pretty penny. Beautiful find, ours got replaced a few years ago”.
In a subsequent comment, the pair revealed they “were” and still remain “utterly astonished” by their discovery, even though they have not yet decided what to do with it going forward.
