Lancashire Police are appealing for any information from the public, declaring the incident “a matter of concern”. They are urging witnesses and anyone with any relevant CCTV footage to contact them.

The Daily Star reports that police confirmed: “We are aware of a disturbing video that has gone viral on social media showing a naked man with his face covered wandering around Lytham in the early hours of this morning.

“The incident took place in the area of Westby Street, Cleveland Road and Bannister Street. We can confirm that the incident took place on 18 July 2025 at approximately 00:50. This incident was not initially reported to the police and we only became aware of it after it was posted on Facebook.”

Police added they were “taking the matter seriously” and the public could feel “at ease”. The latest incident comes after a self-employed gardener known as the “Somerset Gimp” was banned from wearing an all-black gimp suit in public at night after causing panic in a small village.

Joshua Hunt, 32, was convicted of 25 related offences near the village of Bleadon in Weston-super-Mare after terrifying two female drivers in the area in May 2023.

Hunt was found guilty of two counts of the Public Order Act, namely intentionally causing a disturbance and causing alarm or distress. He was also given a sexual risk restriction, which prohibits him from wearing any masks or face coverings unless medically necessary.

In one incident, police received reports of a “man in latex” jumping out in front of a car late at night. He also approached strangers and behaved strangely.

On other occasions, the Somerset Bruiser would approach locals and then fall to the ground and “writhe” in the grass and dirt. Hunt was then instructed “not to crawl, wriggle or writhe on the ground while wearing protective clothing or a full-body mask.”
