People convinced there’s ‘glitch in the matrix’ after strange sunset

Some people think the world in is nothing more than a computer-generated reality, just like film franchise The Matrix, and every so often a ‘glitch’ occurs.

A bizarre photo of a sunset with a strange element peeping out of the clouds has got people questioning their very existence.

Shared on Reddit, the image looks perfectly normal at first glance showing a stunning sky with beams of sunlight pouring out.

However, if you zoom in, there’s a rather peculiar addition underneath the clouds that looks like some sort of binary code. It’s truly abnormal.

The person who posted the image explained that he had been out walking his dog and took a snap of the spectacular sunset and didn’t even notice it until later on. He wrote: “I thought it was a reflection in the clouds then zoomed in.”

Indeed, the ‘glitch’ isn’t noticeable at first glance and could be easily written off as a shadow or simply part of the cloud.

However, on closer inspection, it’s clear to see some sort of symbols on an almost honeycomb background.

While some people refused to believe that it was real and the user hadn’t PhotoShopped the image, others were baffled but intrigued.

One user replied: “Right then so no glitch in the matrix……just the actual matrix. Excellent. Not sure what the hell that could be tbh but it looks very symbolic in a close up” Another person added: “Rare good post. What the hell is it? It straight up looks like runes.”

Some people questioned whether it could be a reflection from a windscreen but the owner of the photo explained that he had been out walking and there were no cars nearby.

The man went on: “I didn’t change anything. This is the original picture. I was out walking my dog. I wouldn’t know how to alter it.”

Another person revealed it could be caused by his smartphone. They said: “My guess would be that the glare from the sun has caused the CCD sensor (which is used in digital imaging) in your phone’s camera to oversaturate and make an image of the pattern of the sensors. The pattern is similar to this layout of CCD sensors.”

Another person also chimed in: “As a photographer, there’s no limit to the amount of artefacts and stuff that can happen when snapping a photo. I’ve managed to see the sensors array and reflection very similar to this before on my mirrorless Sony.”

Posting a similar video that further added to the mystery, a TikToker named Grace told her followers while showing an image: “Why is the lens flare from the sun a honeycomb? And why are multiple people seeing it? I’ve come across these videos showing this glare from the sun.

“Now I thought it was a coincidence the first time around, however, there are multiple people from multiple different areas experiencing this glare from the sun. Multiple people all experiencing the same weird glare. It’s in the shape of a honeycomb.”
