People convinced they’ve ‘seen a bear’ as pet owner shows off huge dog

Animal lovers have all been left saying the same thing after they spotted an enormous creature at the vet.

A dog owner took her Newfoundland to the vet and shared a sweet clip online, leaving people all saying the same thing.

Ari Alvarez-Tostado posted a short video on TikTok of her pet dog, Kuzco, showing lots of love to his vet. The large pooch is seen towering over the vet to give her a hug.

Newfoundlands are known for their huge size – a full-grown dog can weigh as much as some humans, according to PetMD. Many people who saw Ari’s TikTok clip likened Kuzco to a bear because of his thick, furry coat.

The adorable supersized black dog couldn’t help but show his appreciation for his vet by standing up to give her a warm, tight embrace with his front legs wrapped around her. There are multiple comments on Ari’s TikTok post, which has amassed an incredible 40.5 million views, asking what kind of ‘bear’ Kuzco is.

One user asked “what kind of bear is that” and another said “when you choose the bar.” Even Burger UK had the same idea as it commented: “Say hi to your bear for me.”

Another user thought Kuzco was a person as they added: “Omg I thought it was the back of a fur coat with a hoodie! That’s a mighty giant!”

It seems they weren’t the only one as someone else asked: “Pls (please) who else thought it was someone wearing a fur coat facing back?”

Other users commented on the hug Kuzco gave the vet. Disney On Ice said: “I fear this kind of hug would heal me.”

A different user echoed: “I just know a hug from this dog would fix me.” Ari also has another Newfoundland dog and in the comment section of her TikTok video she said: “This is Kuzco. He’s a lot bigger in size than Bhaaloo. But in true gentle giant he doesn’t know how big he is.”

Someone with knowledge of this dog breed commented: “I love Newfoundland dogs. They are bred for swimming their paws are webbed feet specifically for swimming.” Ari replied: “Yes! Originally bred for water work, water rescue, net pulling and even small boat tugging.”

PetMD states Newfoundlands are one of the biggest dog breeds but are also “one of the most docile and friendly.” It says the breed originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where the dogs worked alongside fishermen and served as water rescue dogs.

The pet health and care advice website adds: “Because of this history, Newfoundlands are natural swimmers – their webbed paws allow them to cut through water, and their thick coat insulates them from frigid temperatures.” Their thick, double coat sheds year round and dogs of this breed tend to drool so they need constant upkeep but according to PetMD, these friendly dogs reward you with their sweet temperament as they have a reputation for being calm at home, patient around children and good roommates to other dogs and cats too.
