A figure celebrated as ‘China’s Nostradamus’ has delivered a shocking prediction about the current US-Iran situation in the Middle East – and it deviates from what most individuals might expect.
Professor Xueqin Jiang, a Chinese-Canadian academic and host of a well-known YouTube channel, is becoming an online phenomenon due to three projections he presented in 2024 – two of which have already come to pass with remarkable accuracy.

In May 2024, Jiang shared three projections during his lessons at a secondary school in China where he instructs, and the videos were then posted to his reputable YouTube channel, Predictive History, which presently boasts 1.87 million followers.
Jiang, an alumnus of Yale College, expressed his belief that Donald Trump would be victorious in the 2024 election and regain power, effectively securing a second term in the White House. Prediction number one – entirely accurate.
He followed this with another unsettling prophecy: “If he [Trump] does become president during a second term, there is a very significant chance that the United States will engage in war with Iran.” Prediction number two – also perfectly correct.

Jiang clarified that a primary reason for the United States entering a war with Iran would be due to the interests of Israel, an event that is unfolding in real-time with the ongoing joint US-Israel Operation Epic Fury.

The unsettling third prediction from 2024
Therefore, what was Jiang’s third and concluding forecast in 2024 regarding the US-Iran situation? The United States will suffer defeat.
By examining hypothetical battle situations and fictional instances, Jiang explained why a US assault on Iran would be catastrophic for the Superpower, remarking: “The third major projection is that the United States will be defeated in this war, which will eternally reshape the global structure.”
Upholding the certainty behind his three projections across numerous videos published on his channel, the professor argued that Iran’s populace and landmass would render any prolonged control of its terrain by the United States unworkable, given that the Middle Eastern nation’s extended supply chains, robust internal resistance, and mountainous landscape would rapidly transform any initial military achievement into a disastrous strategic failure, according to reports from the Mirror US.
Jiang predicted in a channel video: “If this war [US-Iran] were to transpire, there’s absolutely no scenario where America can be victorious.”
The history and philosophy professor drew parallels between a possible invasion of Iran by the United States and the Sicilian Expedition from 415 to 413 BC, where Athens initiated a substantial military operation against Sparta, Syracuse, and Corinth with the objective of capturing and dominating the Sicily region – a war that ultimately led to calamity for the Athenians.
The scientific method underpinning the predictions
Instructing in History and Philosophy since 2022 at Moonshot Academy Beijing, the professor crafts his projections by scrutinizing recurrent geopolitical drivers, historical trends, and Game Theory.
His YouTube channel’s description explains the basis for his concepts: “In his Foundation series, Isaac Asimov proposed that the field of ‘psycho-history’ will assist humankind in understanding its history, predicting its future, and managing its present. This channel aims to explore whether ‘psycho-history’ is indeed attainable.”
When elaborating on why Iran also wishes to engage in battle with the US, Professor Jiang explained in one of his 2024 lectures that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (also called the Iranian Revolutionary Guards or IRGC) “desire war with the United States because they are very angered by US meddling in Iran.”
Jiang stated: “We can assume that a second Trump term war with Iran will be a key focus. Essentially, the United States is seeking a justification, and Iran intends to provide them with one, making a war between the United States and Iran highly probable within the next two to four years.”
Supporting his assertions in 2026
Professor Jiang recently appeared on the US news program Breaking Points with Krystal and Saagar, where he discussed his perspectives on how events might unfold.
In a video released on March 2 to YouTube, the academic stated: “Based on my analysis of the war’s progression, I believe Iran possesses numerous advantages over the United States. The reality is that the conflict is currently a war of attrition between the United States and Iran, and the Iranians have been preparing for this conflict for 20 years.”
He added: “They’ve engaged in numerous practice exercises. Last June featured a 12-day conflict where the Iranians could assess and analyze the strike capabilities of both the Israelis and the Americans. Furthermore, they have had ample time, eight months, to adequately prepare for this latest assault.”
The former journalist stated that Iran’s affiliates – Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis – “have been able to thoroughly understand the American mindset – and now they possess a quite effective strategy for weakening and eventually destroying the American empire”.
The professor added: “The Iranians are essentially conducting a war against the entire global economy.”
Jiang then described how Iran is “attacking the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries and targeting their vital energy infrastructures” as he detailed how an Iranian drone strike on a GCC nation’s desalination plant could potentially deprive millions of water within weeks.
Concerningly, reports of a drone strike on a desalination facility in Bahrain have recently surfaced in recent days.
The professor also highlighted how Iran has effectively blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, which “supplies 90% of food for the GCC countries”.
Regarding the possibility of US ground troops being deployed into Iran, the professor predicted: “We’ve never had a president in history who was able to achieve regime change from the air alone.”
