Neto possesses the Guinness World Record as the most aged man alive, an accolade he obtained in November 2024 after the passing of the prior titleholder, Briton John Tinniswood, who passed away at 112 years old. Guinness verified João Neto was “112 years 52 days at the moment” of Tinniswood’s expiration.

He later fathered seven offspring, and now takes pride in having 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
In an Instagram communication, Guinness honored João Marinho Neto’s 113th birthday with a sequence of visuals.
The description noted: “Happy 113th birthday to João Marinho Neto, recognized as the globe’s most senior male.
“The Brazilian is observing this significant occasion today with an extensive gathering arranged for him by his family.
“João has been relishing life since he was affirmed as the most aged man in existence last November, subsequent to the passing of John Tinniswood from the UK at 112 years of age.”
While Neto carries the distinction of being the world’s most aged man, the oldest individual is Ethel Caterham from the UK, who observed her 116th birthday in August.
