Unusual sisters live in the same body, but only one of them has found her soulmate, Ukr.Media reports.
Conjoined twins Abigail and Brittany Hensel first attracted mass attention back in 1996 when they appeared on Oprah Winfrey's mega-popular entertainment show.
The Hensel sisters were born on March 7, 1990 in the US state of Minnesota to registered nurse Patty Hensel and landscape designer Mike Hensel.
Abby and Brittany are conjoined twins. They share a common circulatory system and all their organs are below the waist, but each has their own lungs, heart, stomach, spine, and spinal cord. The sisters also share one pair of limbs, and each girl is responsible for an arm and leg on her own half of the body: Abby for the right, and Brittany, respectively, for the left.
“From childhood, our parents forbade us from using our diagnosis as an excuse for anything. We were raised with the belief that we could do anything we wanted,” the twins said about their childhood.
After their Oprah debut, the Hensel sisters began appearing regularly on television. In 2012, the reality show “Abby and Brittany” was released, which chronicled the girls' final years at Bethel College and their subsequent trip to Europe.
More than ten years have passed since then, and the unusual sisters are still living a normal (as far as possible) life. Currently, the Hensels have found work in their hometown as elementary school teachers. A few years ago, they even managed to fulfill their dream of getting a driver's license, and now the sisters travel around the district in their own car.
Significant changes have affected the twins' personal lives. In 2021, 31-year-old Abby secretly married US Army veteran Josh Bowling.
A photo that looks very much like a wedding portrait was recently shared on the sisters' social media. In the festive photo, the conjoined twins, dressed in a white dress, hold hands with Bowling, who is standing in front of them in a gray formal suit.
Josh's page also features happy photos from their trip with Abby and Brittany. A wedding is also hinted at by the fact that Bowling changed his personal status on his profile information to “married.”
At the same time, the question of Brittany's marital status still remains open. It is known that Josh chose her sister Abby, which means that formally Brit can still search and find her soulmate. Who knows, maybe soon the sisters will wear a wedding dress for the second time.
