The unmanned Cygnus spacecraft is expected to depart from the International Space Station on Friday after delivering more than 4 tons of cargo, scientific instruments for experiments, commercial goods, equipment and other supplies.

The undocking process is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live via NASA.

The departure will be initiated from Earth, when operators transmit commands to a robotic arm that will prepare the module to detach from the ISS port where it has been located since August 2024.

The expected undocking is scheduled for 6:55 p.m. ET.

Cygnus will carry more than seven months of accumulated debris created by the crew of the International Space Station. Its mission is several months behind schedule.

Three weeks ago, NASA announced that a shipping container designed to protect the Cygnus module was damaged last June while it was being transported to Florida for launch at Cape Canaveral Space Station.
