Sky has just announced an alternative way to watch TV at a much more affordable price.
If you prefer Sky TV and Netflix but don’t want to pay the traditional high monthly fees, you now have a new alternative to the classic satellite dish that’s considerably cheaper than you might expect. The Sky Stream box has been around for a while, and the device uses the internet to beam content to the big screen rather than a standard terrestrial signal. Now Sky has confirmed that it will make owning the box a lot cheaper with a new package called Sky Essential TV.
This £15 plan includes a host of live and on-demand channels, including Sky Atlantic, plus access to Netflix and Discovery+.

Of course, such a low price means that some channels like Sky Max, Sky Documentaries and Sky Witness won't be available, but it's still a great deal to get you started with Sky. If you want to add extras like Sky Sports or Cinema, you can add them later, but they'll cost extra.
For those unfamiliar, Sky Stream is a compact, easy-to-install box that gives you full access to live and on-demand channels over the internet. It also offers personalised recommendations, handy features for saving content for later, and includes pre-installed apps like Disney+ and Apple TV+.

If the £15 offer isn't enough for you, you can upgrade to another new package called Sky Ultimate TV, which will cost you £22 a month.
This package includes everything from Sky Essential TV, but adds more channels such as Sky Max, Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky Showcase and Sky Witness, plus premium channels including U&alibi, Comedy Central, U&GOLD and National Geographic.
Speaking about the changes, Ben Case, managing director of Sky TV, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our world-class TV experience to even more viewers for one low price every day with Sky Essential TV. Our new TV package makes it easier than ever to access the hottest and best shows from Sky, Netflix and discovery+, especially in time for the Christmas TV season.”
There are a few things to consider before you hit the buy button. Firstly, you will need a stable internet connection (around 50 Mbps or better) to get the best experience with Sky Stream, and you will need to sign up for a 24-month contract.
