A major free Android update is coming to Galaxy smartphones, and here's how you can be one of the first to test it out.
After a long wait, Samsung has finally confirmed the launch of its new One UI 7 update. This software includes a host of changes, including a refreshed interface, improved AI, improved camera controls, and enhanced security.
Samsung says the company is currently rolling out the update through its public beta program, which anyone can join to test it out before it becomes available to everyone in a few weeks.
To try out the latest features, you'll only need the latest Galaxy S24 in your pocket, as these are the only Samsung devices compatible with this early beta.

“Samsung Electronics today announced the public launch of One UI 7 beta, which brings powerful AI features, simplified management, and a preview of scalable AI ecosystems of the future,” the Korean tech giant confirmed.
“The One UI 7 beta testing program will be first available for Galaxy S24 series devices in countries including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US from December 5. Galaxy S24 users can apply for the beta testing program through Samsung Members.”
What's new in this update?
One UI 7 brings a number of new features, including Galaxy AI enhancements that help you compose emails and documents faster, as well as familiar extras like the ability to summarize text, check spelling and grammar, and automatically format notes as bullet points.
There's a new notification system format that Samsung says will streamline communication and provide easy access to information right from the device's lock screen. The update also now includes a Now Bar that highlights relevant actions across features like Interpreter, Music, Recording, Secondwatch, and more.
Samsung hopes that by offering instant access to important notifications, the new Now Bar will reduce the need to constantly unlock the device and allow users to effortlessly interact with key information.
There will also be a simplified home screen that will give users complete control over every detail and make setup intuitive and easy.

Finally, the camera interface has been redesigned to provide more intuitive control over advanced settings. The camera's buttons, controls, and modes have been reorganized to make it easier to find the features you need and to provide a clearer preview of the image or video you're capturing.
In addition to these features, Samsung is also strengthening security with what it calls Knox Matrix. This is Samsung’s vision for the future, enhancing protection through multi-layered, intelligent threat monitoring across connected Samsung devices. One UI 7 lays the foundation for the next level of security.
One UI 7 also provides even more options to customize security settings to best suit user needs. Users can lock USB connections to prevent unauthorized access via the USB port while the device is locked, except for charging.
To protect against malicious apps downloaded from third-party sources, One UI 7's new Secure Install system works in tandem with the Auto-Block feature to send a warning when a user tries to download an app from an unauthorized source, informing them of potential security risks and preventing accidental downloads of third-party apps on Galaxy devices worldwide.
Expect the full release of One UI 7 in the coming weeks.
