Researchers have achieved historic low error rates in quantum computing, a major step toward solving key challenges on the road to practical, industrial-scale quantum computers.
In a paper published June 12 in the journal APS Physical Review Letters, the scientists showed a quantum error rate of 0.000015%, equivalent to one error in 6.7 million operations.
This achievement is a significant improvement in both accuracy and speed over the previous record of about one error per million operations, set by the same team in 2014.
