SpaceX launched 28 V2 internet satellites into low Earth orbit from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Thursday evening, adding to its fleet of nearly 7,300 orbiting satellites already in space.

The Falcon 9 rocket and payload were launched just after 6:51 p.m. ET.

It was the 18th mission for the rocket's first stage, which landed on the unmanned Just Read the Instructions ship in the Atlantic Ocean about 8.5 minutes after liftoff.

This reusable booster, numbered 1080, has been used to carry out two private astronaut missions to the International Space Station, two cargo operations, and to launch the European Space Agency's Euclid Observatory.

This was the 440th time SpaceX has used the reusable rocket booster, the company's 468th launch overall and the 51st this year.
